Salvatore "Totò" Cuffaro, formerly President ("governor") of the Sicilian Region, went to jail yesterday to begin serving a 7 year sentence for various offenses. He'll certainly be released soon, perhaps for health reasons, but the incarceration culminates investigations and trials, with three appeals, that lasted eight years.
What did Totò do to end up in a Rome prison? There's a long list of things, mostly connected in some way with aiding organized crime. The day before the sentence in Rome, Totò offered cannoli to some of his closest friends.
