It is described so little in guidebooks, and so "difficult" to find, that the Palazzo Abatellis Gallery is considered something of a local secret in Palermo. Yet its collection is exceptional. Shown here is a painting by Antonello da Messina, one of the first oil painters of the Renaissance.
But the gallery is open most of the Summer - except on August 15th, a national holiday.
And it really isn't very hard to find.
